Computer problems.pls help?

Anytime I plug something into my USB ports the found new hardware wizard for XP starts up. Every time at the end i get “Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check”. Don’t matter if I try to load drivers from CD or data file. I get the error when I plug in the key board the came with the system, printer, thumb drives ect. Hardware profile says the drivers for USB ports are up to date. This problem started after i re-installed the CD that came with the computer after my system crashed. Never had these problems before reformatting HD. Any kind of advice is welcome and thank you for your time.

  1. dmnuts Says:

This data error cyclic redundancy check is usually a result of trying to access data from a corrupted CD/DVD, but if this happens whilst accessing a file on the hard drive it would indicate a corrupted file.

This leads me to believe that a driver(s) might be corrupt with the USB ports, if it does it on everything you try hooking up to them.

Try running all of the Windows Updates first to see if that will fix your problem. It’s possible that a Windows Update might fix it. Also, the found new hardware wizard will pop up if anything you plug in requires installation first.

    Try doing this as well:
    1.Click Start, and then Run.
2.In Open, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
3.Use one of the following procedures:
•To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, at the command prompt, type chkdsk, and then press ENTER.
•To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/f, and then press ENTER.
