Help with windows 98! considering USB drivers?

I need USB drivers, we tried installing them twice using the 98 boot disk but it wouldn’t go through, so we bought a PCI USB adapter and it still didn’t work WITH the drivers included in the CD. But, does anyone know what’s wrong?
The engineering machine we use isn’t “xp” capable, and yes it’s se

Which version of Win 98, the original or win 98 se? the original win 98 does not support usb, but win 98 se does. Also, since win 98 is so old, the pic usb adapter may not have the win 98 drivers on the cd. (although I’m guessing there is plenty of room for them). the drivers on the cd are most likely for win me, win 2000, win xp or win vista.

Windows 98 isnt supported by Microsoft anymore and probably not by most manufacturers of modern computer components either. You can try getting an operating system disc and see if they will install from that, or go to the manufacturer’s website of the card you bought and see if they offer a download of drivers for 98. If not, I would consider it a prime opportunity to upgrade to XP.
