Is there a difference between desktop and laptop security software?

I need to update my security software on my laptop and my desktop. I thought buying a program that can be used on 2 computers would work. I got it to download on my desktop but it wouldn’t go on my laptop. Do I need software that specifies for laptop or should any of it work?

No, There is no difference between them. All softwares are designed to work all kinds of system.
