how can i block updatewind.exe?

updatewind.exe and also updatewinc.exe is a kind of worm/virus wich infects hard drive and mass storages. it makes hard drive noise.its palces in system32 folder.

I just bought a Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter but Im not sure how to get it to see my DSL modem?

Hello, I just bought a NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter. I plugged it in to my computer. I am running the Ubuntu 7.10 operating system. I went to my device manager and my computer dose see the Adapter and calls it Wpn111. My computer detects a wired connection no problem but I dont know how to make my computer look for a wireless connection. I dont think my computer realizes I now have the hardware to do so. Will this hardware work with Ubuntu? Any tips are apresheated. Thanks!

The USBID changes, and only under one sequence of steps (that I have found). Upon plugging the device, it comes up with a usbid of 1385:5f01. I could not get the device to work with ndiswrapper while this was the case, even following the hints on the wiki list. But (using the CD drivers) I got it to work by:

ndiswrapper -i {path}/ndis5/netwpn11.inf
(here nidswrapper -l yields:
athwpn : driver installed

modprobe -r ndiswrapper
modprobe ndiswrapper
and then wlan0 was created(inexplicably renamed to wlan1) and could be configured.
running ndiswrapper -l now gives:
athwpn : driver installed
netwpn11 : driver installed
device (1385:5F00) present
Trying to associate 1385:5f01 with the netwpn11.inf results in failure. athwpn doesnt actually seem to be necessary, I can uninstall it, unload ndiswrapper and reload and it works again. But if I dont also install athwpn to begin with the usbid wont change. I can plug in and remove the wireless stick all day, and the usbid won’t change until I do the above. It will even stick after reboot.

I need a device that can read the RPM of a rotating object, and be set up to output a constant electric current when a specific RPM is reached. This output will be used to activate a braking system to reduce the rotational speed to a safe level.

Connector for RCA to USB?

I want a USB connector that has female RCA (Yellow, White, and Red inputs) perhaps with some software. I don’t need to capture, just to be able to hook it up so I could hook up any game system or DVD player and use my laptop as a screen. I’m pretty sure I have seen things like this before and would like to know where I can find one.

How to transfer songs from ipod to new computer?

I have 8500 songs on a 60Gb Ipod (2005) that I dont want to lose! Ive downloaded Sharepod and the .NET framework patches/related updates. Itunes wants to update/reformat ipod before recognizing songs. This is v bad! Cant even recognize Ipod as an external storage device. Any suggestion/ideas very much appreciated. TY

Connecting 2 computers to the internet using 1 modem?

Hi Everyone,
I joined Optus and got their free standard modem some time ago. Now I have bought a new computer and it is windows vista. My old computer was given to my sister. The problem is that me and my sister wants to have internet access all the time. I tried researching on how to connect two computers to 1 modem and what i found out was that i needed to buy a router. But then someone told me that my modem has a built in router. How do I configure the router? I mean when i tried connecting one computer via USB and other via ethernet, I rarely get internet to both the computers. My modem is a Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL Modem. So hopefully someone can help me.
