Trying to restore pictures from olympus digital camera with xd card?

I am trying to restore lost pictures from an Olympus digital camera that uses an xd card. There was a problem when I went to load the pictures, and the camera screen said to format it. After checking the card for the pics (they weren’t there) we formatted. I have used several programs to try to get the pictures, using a card reader. Are they lost forever? One site I went on said if you used an Olympus with an xd card you can’t recover the pics. These are very important pics, and I need them back. Thanks for any help!

Acer Inspire One Laptop?

I’m considering purchasing an Acer Inspire One Laptop. I’m not sure which exact model it is, but it’s the one that Walmart is selling right now in the United States. It’s a low-end machine that is really really small, light, and portable. Here are the specs:

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Atom 1.6GHz Processor
802.11b/g Wireless LAN
10/100 Ethernet Port
120GB HDD
1GB RAM
8.9″ Widescreen
Built-in Webcam
VGA Out
5-in-1 Media Card Reader
3 USB Ports
Audio Port
Microphone Port
Weight: 2.19 lbs
3 Cell battery (2 1/2 - 3 Hrs)

Price: $350.00 (without taxes)

I actually like the fact that it’s preloaded with XP instead of Vista; otherwise I would not even think about buying this. The built-in webcam & card reader is really nice; hardware I will actually use (it saves me the clutter of carrying a card reader & webcam along with me). The VGA Out will be nice since I have a 22″ LCD moniter it can go into at home. I have WiFi & Ethernet at home, and WiFi at work; so this thing will be connected almost everywhere for me. 120GB is impressive to me for such a small low-budget computer, this will be really convenient since I got lots of stuff. 2 1/2 to 3 hrs battery life is good for me; that’s how much my full sized laptop was able to live. The laptop is not exactly a beauty, but it is sort of nice looking for being small and toy-like. I won’t be typing too much on it’s small keyboard anyways. Sorry if this is too long, but here my question(s):

Do you think this laptop is worth $350?
Do you think this laptop is good according to my needs?

The following questions go to people that own this laptop:

Does the Intel Atom processor run reasonably fast?
Is the screen big enough to read without squinting you eyes?
Is this computer compatible with Ubuntu Linux 8.04+?

Thanks all of you for taking the time to read all of this. If you own this model, I would really appreciate it if you left a small review on how good you think it is. Google pictures so you can give me your opinion on it’s looks. Thanks!

How to get Micro SD reader to work?

I have recently bought an ATP Micro SD with the USB 2.0 card reader, but when I plug it in to my PC it detects down at the bottom right on the toolbar, but nothing opens or when I go to My Computer it’s not there. It says new hardware and stuff like USB 2.0 mass storage device, but still nothing, and I’ve tried it on 2 computer and 3 USB ports. I’m really confused and could use a lot of help. Please.

My computer isn’t reading my camera when I plug it in?

I have a Sony DSC-S650 and when I plug it in it says to switch on the USB Mode hit Menu. I hit that and i go to mass storage device and nothing happens. My computer doesn’t seem to read the USB either.

I’m thinking about getting a card reader, but I need these pictures now.

I have a Canon A5 camera and need a Driver to suit a C5 card in XP using a USB C5 card reader?

The Camera came with a 9 pin male serial lead but the drivers will not work in XP so I need a driver to use either the 9 pin male serial connection or a C5 card reader I have.

I am looking for a suitable driver. XP does recognise the reader but will not read the inserted card
Canon does not support XP for this Camera
I did get a driver from http://driverguide.com it was the USBDriver6.5.exe worksd perfect. You would think Canon would have a driver but no luck

I have a 5-in-1 card reader, but only SD fits. Do I have to get an adapter for all my other memory cards?

It’s built in to my laptop if that helps

Troubles importing photos from Sony Digital Camera memory card?

I have a Sony DSC-W50 digital camera with a Sony Memory Stick ProDuo 1GB card, and to import the pictures from the card, I have a USB All-in-one reader and a Sony Memory Stick Adaptor (in order to fit it in the cardreader).
The problem is that whenever I try to import pictures (using the windows software, Creative Photo Manager, or just copy/paste directly from the card) I get an error that says something like:”copying failed, incorrect/invalid parameter”.
To make it even weirder, I can see the pictures as thumbnails on the card, but I cannot open the files….
I already tried to zip them all and try copying that file, but zipping also won’t work.
It’d be absolutely great if someone can help me out on this one, I really need the card (and I want to see the pictures of course:). Thank you very much in advance!!!
I don’t have the cable here (as in: it’s some 1000miles away from here). I have used the card (and card reader) without any difficulties before, it’s the first time this happens. I am able to see the pictures on the camera though…weirdest thing…
Using windows explorer doesn’t work.
