Windows Vista + Mass Storage = Nuclear Holocaust?

What can I do to make my Vista Basic OS recognize mass storage? A couple months ago it wouldn’t recognize my external harddrive (older unit circa 2001 or so - has drivers for Windows 2000 but Vista won’t take it) and now it won’t recognize my digital photo frame (Viewsonic DPX 704WH - brand new). Viewsonic’s website even says it works with Vista and it doesn’t even have drivers. Same problem with both mass storage devices - it pops up and says it has an unknown USB device and it wants to install drivers. Both times driver installation fails (with the photo frame I only tried that as a second resort because the photo frame HAS no drivers and says my computer should automatically recognize it) and it doesn’t show a drive for it in my My Computer. I can see it as an “Unknown Device” in my Device Manager. Please help!
Have rebooted several times, doesn’t change the unknown device. Also tried “Disable” on Device Manager. Just popped back up when I reconnected it.

Acer crystal eye webcam?

Please help. I have an acer aspire 3680 laptop with a built-in camera. It was windows vista, i reinstalled windows xp. Now I need a driver for my camera. However, I downloaded drivers from the acer euro site and other sites, they installed but the USB 2.0 camera in my device manager is still unavailable.

My LaCie external hdd is no longer recognised by my laptop.any ideas?

It used to work fine!! Now, it doesnt show up in My Computer, or in device manager.. doesnt even make that sound when I plug in the usb cord in. The hdd light does flash makes sounds, just nothing shows up on my computer. Ive tried different power points, different usb cord etc… Other usb devices continue to work however.

How can i read my files on an external which a windows vista ultimate has been installed?

I had a D400 laptop. It is not working any more. I removed the hard disk and now i make it a USB external hard disk. when i plug it in another PC the device can be recognized by computer but the partitions are not being shown in my computer.
I check in computer management on device manager. it is shown that a hard disk connected but cannot read it.

belkin 54g usb wifi adapter not working?

when i first installed the software for the belkin 54g wifi usb adapter it worked fine until i restarted windows xp then it gave me a message saying usb device not recognized. i tried updating the drivers in device manager and reinstalling the software nothing works. im possibly going to buy a different one soon anyone know if it can be fixed? thanks

i have a 6.4gb ide internal hard drive which has windows 2000 pro and windows xp installed on it, my problem i i have another hard drive which is a 160gb sata hard drive which cannot be pluuged in inside my computer because i do not have sata cables… i have however a sata usb adaptor which connects the drive fine and its works properly but when my computer is on in “my computer” the hard drive is not visible, it is in device manager and the drivers are installed but the device does not actually appear in my computer…. any suggestions ? thanks =]

i had a new desk top xp cd i installed on my acer laptop..it went fine ..installed perfectly..now i asked yesterday and was asked to check device manager,which i did and i think im missing drivers.everything iin the list is ok,exsept under other devices,,all have a big yellow question mark .eternet controller..Mass Storage Device,,,network controller,,, pci device,,,SM Bus Controller,,Video controller,, video controller VGA Compatible..i take these are drivers i need but cannot get network on the acer laptop..so how do i get them .and install them..ive looked at there download site but am not sure as to what to down load for these yellow question marks..remember its an acer 3680 had vista on it got wiped accidently i installed xp..if someone could tell me what drivers to get and how to do it from another pc please let me know…thank you

No CommentsI went to device manager(update drivers; which it already does automatically)and tried there, I tried volume control as well..nadda on both accounts..
What could it be?

How do I get my PC to recognize my mp3 player again?

I have a Samsung YP-F1Z player. I had it connected to my PC to transfer music to it, and my daughter unplugged it without stopping it. Now my computer won’t recognize that it is connected. I know the usb ports work, because I connected another mp3 player to both of them and it worked. I tried reinstalling the device in Device Manager, but am told that I need an updated driver…with no luck there. Does anyone have any suggestions??

i have usb speakers which work fine but thats it nothing else works’ cameras etc nothing even comes up when i plug them in, i’ve updated all the drivers etc and nothing works. been into device manager and it says the device is working properly. don’t understand it. please help
