Having problem with usb device?

I have an usb device that does not pick up on certain pc’s. All pc’s are using XP.

Plugging directly into my home pc usb or my laptop and windows will not pop up that a new device was found. But when I plug it into my usb hub it picks up and the device driver can be installed. I do not know if this might have something to do with usb 1 or 2.

All the pc’s has working usb ports and are installed with XP service pack 2.

The device is in a perfect working order and the device cable is also fine. There is nothing wrong with it.

Any info will be appreciated.

Is there any way on vista to connect 2 mice (lets assume both are usb) and have 2 SEPARATE cursors on screen?

Just curious, as it would help with what I do.
I can get 2 mice to control the same exact cursor, i just want to know if it is at all possible to create a second cursor and control it separately…

Won’t Recogonize Hard Drive?

I bought a 500gb western digital external hard drive about a year ago. I have roughly 200gb of data on it. About a week ago I tried to transfer a 4gb file to it and it said there was not enough storage space. I believe this was due to the hard drive not being formatted in NTFS. I am not sure if that has anything to do with my current problem or not. The problem I am having now is when I plug in the hard drive through USB 2.0, I hear the new device sound but the hard drive never shows up in my computer. I have tried removing it and connecting it to an external enclosure and I am having the same problem. I have also tried other ports on my computer as well as other USB cables. It does show up in device manager, and disk management though. I am stumped! Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
I have already tried it on another computer and it has the same problem.

What is the difference in USB 1.1 and 2.0?

is the size different? if i got a USB hub, would a 1.1 plug into a 2.0 or 2.0 into 1.1?
also, is it possible to plug a USB 1.1 into 2.0 or opposite WITHOUT messing anything up?

How do I get the recorded video off my Motorola DCT3400 PVR to my PC?

I read the manual and it doesn’t explain much on how to remove videos to a PC or expand the capacity with an external hard drive.

I have a USB 2, eSata, and 2 x Firewire connections and ethernet connection.

I need to free up some space but don’t want to delete anything.

my laptop does not have a dvd writer with it. i want to have a dvd writer which i can connect to my laptop with USB 2.0. is any branded product available in market ? if so what would be the cost ?

Problem with external hard drive?

I have a SUMO disk 350GB it is connected to my computer via USB 2.0 i’ve had it for about three months and it is by no means even nearly full, so why oh why when i’m playing music directly from it or watching something does it keep on skipping and then re-opening the auto play function??? please help guys it *****! (i have windows XP)
