Vista Desktop?

well you know on a mac when you plug in say a usb storage device and it shows on the desktop, how can i make a usb storage device show up on my windows vista home basic desktop?

Cannot connect to shared printer?

I have a lexmark x1100 all in one printer connected to my windows xp desktop via a usb connection. I have a laptop running windows vista. Both computers are connected to a netgear rangemax wireless router. The desktop has a wired cnnection to the router and the laptop has a wireless connection. When I try to send a print request over the network from the laptop to the printer connected to the desktop. When I send a request to the printer it ays “problem comunicating to the printer”. I have checked the usb cable and power cord, taking them out and putting them back in again as well as restarting both coputers. The vista machine has a vista printer driver installed for this printer. I assume that the desktop which running xp ust needs a drivr compatible with xp or does it need a vista compatibl driver?

Any help ould be greatly apreciate.

USB port’s / drivers. Win-Vista?

I need help finding a solution or anything to get my usb driver’s and port’s working on my Windows Vista - Hp Pavilion Slimline PC, again. they were working fine at one point, now they ain’t!

but I did find on one site that I need to make a batch file & put it on administrator.. but It was to little to hard to understand & to work.

and plus, I have been browsing around on various sites! but nothing has really worked. so I just came on here, I did another site but no one answered!

p.s. I’ve heard on other forums & such, that some been having problems with there usbs. I just wanted to see if I can get help off of here!

Well, i have this usb that i bought last week. I really want to put pictures on my windows vista laptop… but i dont know how to transfer the pictures from the USB to my laptop.

How do I fix Windows Vista log-off and switch user errors as well as USB detection errors?

Hi. I just bought a new PC with Windows Vista Home Basic as the OS. I’ve experienced several problems with it:

1. I can’t log-off or switch user. Everytime I try to log off or switch user, my PC restarts and says that it has recovered from an error.

2. USB devices cannot be detected. It detected my external CD-drive but my flash disks and mp3 players cannot be detected. After some time, my mp3 player was found but it kept saying that it cannot install the driver. Also, it’s not consistent. Sometimes it detects my flash drives and sometimes it won’t.

Any idea how to remedy these? Thanks.

Need help trying to erase hard drive?

I’m trying to erase the OS hard drive that Windows Vista is on but I have to fix Bios.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop and I don’t know what order I need to put the Bios in.

I know I have to put the CD drive first on the list then the drive with Vista goes second I think, then what?

This is what the list says

1.USB Storage Device

2.Diskette Drive

3.Internal HDD

4. Onboard Nic.

I what order do I put everything and whitch one has Windows Vista OS on it?
